The Torah Academy of Bergen County freshman, best known for his lights out shooting as a member of the Noam Knights, set the new push up record at Poppy’s Bagels Pizza and TCBY with an impressive 116.
Ariel congratulations on the new record and for being recognized as this week’s sportstar of the week. Who is your role model and why?
My dad because he is a super nice guy and funny
What is your favorite sport?
Basketball. I’ve played it my entire life and love when the ball goes through the hoop
What is your earliest sports memory?
Playing in the Yavneh Youth Baseball League and hitting a home run
What is your greatest sports accomplishment?
Scoring 50 points in a basketball game
Who is your favorite athlete and why?
Donte DiVincenzo—because we have the same birthday and he is the type of basketball player I aspire to be—like a 3 and D player who can run the floor
What is your pregame routine?
Stretch, drink a little liquid, have a light meal 30 minutes pre-game, practice layups, midrange and then 3 pointers
What is your funniest sports memory?
My dad almost got hit by a foul ball at a Yankee game so he tried blocking the ball with his hat and it was shown on the Jumbotron
What do you like to do when you are not playing sports?
Watching the Knicks play at MSG
What is your favorite sports moment?
Getting selected by Yankee Stadium staff to be Fan of the Day and moved from the upper deck to box seats
What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?
After many years I will be able to look back on this time and see the cool things I’ve accomplished
