The Humble Toast Sportstar Of the Week: Judah Guttmann

The Jewish Link and The Humble Toast would like to recognize Judah Guttmann as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The Yeshivat Noam fifth grader always exhibits teamwork, sportsmanship and determination in everything he does. He’s scored winning goals in soccer and hockey championships, showcasing his perseverance and excellent performance. His positive attitude and passion for the game make him a valuable team player.

Judah, congratulations on being recognized as this week’s sportstar of the week. Who is your role model?

My dad is my role model. He motivates me to be my best and always supports me by attending my games and cheering me on. He helps me stay focused and encourages me to keep pushing myself.

What is your favorite sport?

I love playing soccer and hockey! I enjoy playing all different sports, but there’s something about the speed and competition of soccer and hockey that really excites me. I play offense in both sports, and I love the rush of scoring goals.

What is your greatest sports accomplishment?

Scoring the winning goal in my soccer championship game last season and the winning goal in my hockey semi-final game that sent us to the championship were my two greatest accomplishments so far.

Who is your favorite athlete and why?

Lionel Messi is one of my top favorite athletes. He’s an incredible player, and I aspire to be as skilled and dedicated as he is when I play.

What is your earliest sports memory?

Playing basketball with my mom outside and learning how to dribble is my earliest sport memory. She is a great teacher, and I love spending time with her on the court.

What is your favorite sports memory?

Watching old videos on my parents’ phones of me playing sports when I was younger is my favorite sports memory. It’s great to see how far I’ve come and how much fun I’ve had along the way.

What do you like to do when you are not playing sports?

Hanging out with friends, watching movies and playing video games are my favorite things to do when I’m not on the field or ice.

What is your pregame routine?

Before hockey games, I practice wrist shots to get my aim just right. For soccer, I practice dribbling until I feel confident and ready. I also try to eat well before games and celebrate with ice cream afterward!

What is your funniest sports memory?

During a hockey game, I was so excited after scoring a goal that I started jumping up and down … and ended up tripping on the ball and falling in front of everyone! It was a funny moment, and I’m happy I get to laugh about it now.

What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?

It’s an honor to be recognized as a Sportstar, and it makes me feel really happy and proud of all my hard work!

The Humble Toast Star of the week will receive a $25 gift card to The Humble Toast. Please send nominees for an upcoming The Humble Toast Jewish Link Stars of the Week to [email protected].
