The Jewish Link and The Humble Toast would like to recognize Molly Dimond as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The fifth grader at the Yavneh Academy is a great athlete, much like her late father Andy Dimond a”h.
Molly, congrats on being recognized as this week’s Sportstar of the Week! Who is your role model and why?
My Dad, Andy Dimond. He was an all-around athlete. He ran the New York City Marathon in just four hours and he was a tennis instructor in Teaneck during Covid. He taught kids and adults and he really enjoyed teaching. I hope to have as many trophies as he had.
What is your favorite sport?
It used to be baseball because I played with the Yavneh Youth League since I was in kindergarten but I just started Bergen Girls Flag Football and I realize that I like it even more than baseball. It is a much faster game. Go Cowboys!
What is your pregame routine?
I like to have a good breakfast and warm up with my twin brother, Jay.
What is your greatest sports accomplishment?
In 2021, my baseball team won the Yavneh Youth League junior girls division. In 2022, my soccer team came from behind and won the 2022 U11 girls championship and my team in Yavneh Youth League was the runner up in 2022. In 2023, I won an award in Camp Regesh for sportsmanship.
Who is your favorite athlete and why?
My dad, because he excelled in all sports—except golf.
What is your earliest sports memory?
I was helping my dad coach my soccer team when I was only 5 years old.
What is your favorite thing to do when you are not playing sports?
When I am not playing sports, I like to practice playing the flute and playing ball with my brother.
What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?
I can be in The Link and show it to all of my friends.
The Humble Toast Star of the week will receive a $25 gift card to The Humble Toast. Please send nominees for an upcoming The Humble Toast Jewish Link Stars of the Week to [email protected].
