The Jewish Link and The Humble Toast would like to recognize Nadav Furer as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The third grader at Yeshivat Noam, was the starting quarterback and a key contributor to the BCFL 2/3 Raiders impressive spring season. When asked about Nadav, BCFL coach Adam Frolinger told The Jewish Link, “Maybe not the biggest guy on the field, Nadav lets his play do the talking. His speed and ability to turn a nothing play into a big gain played a leading role in a successful regular season for the raiders. He also chipped in at quarterback, making some dazzling throws down the field and was always a sure handed flag puller. Most of all, Nadav is always a good teammate and with his big smile is someone his teammates enjoyed being around.” BCFL Co-Commissioner Steve Gutlove added, “Much like his older brother Charlie, Nadav is the consummate team player. Willing to do whatever it takes to win on the field but also the first to give a teammate a reassuring pat on the back or high five.”
Nadav, congrats on being recognized as this week’s Sportstar of the Week! Who is your role model and why?
My dad. He always coaches me and helps me become a better player. He plays sports with me and encourages me and is always proud of me.
What is your favorite sport?
Basketball. Because it’s fun and I like to play it with friends.
What is your pregame routine?
Practicing free throws.
What is your greatest sports accomplishment?
Scoring 24 points in a basketball game.
Who is your favorite athlete and why?
Kobe Bryant, because he had a Mamba mentality.
What is your earliest sports memory?
Playing tackle football in my house with my brother Charlie.
What is your weirdest sports memory?
When I was shooting a basketball and it got stuck on the rim.
What is your favorite thing to do when you are not playing sports?
Trading cards with my friends.
What is your favorite sports memory?
I was playing lineup with Seton Hall basketball players and other kids, and I got an older kid out.
What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?
