The Jewish Link and The Humble Toast would like to recognize Sammy Kaufman this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The JEC fifth grader is a kind, respectful and hard-working kid. These exceptional middos play into his everyday life, as well as his athletics .
Sammy congratulations on being recognized as this week’s sportstar of the week. Who is your role model and why?
My role model is my dad because he always plays baseball with me and he always helps me practice my skills.
What is your favorite sport?
My favorite sport is baseball because it is fun to watch and I enjoy playing as well.
What is your earliest sports memory?
My earliest sports memory is going to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders game with my dad when I was 2 years old and getting Aaron Judge’s autograph on Father’s Day in 2016.
What is your greatest sports accomplishment?
My greatest sports accomplishment is hitting home runs and helping my team win the game.
Who is your favorite athlete and why?
My favorite athlete is Aaron Judge. I love that we both play outfield, he hits so many home runs and he plays for my favorite team—the New York Yankees!
What is your pregame routine?
My pregame routine is getting to the field early so I have time to practice and take some swings in the batting cages with my coach and teammates.
What is your funniest sports memory?
My funniest sports memory is when I saw someone at a game who I thought was Frankie Montas and we asked him to sign our baseball. Turns out, it was just a random guy!
What do you like to do when you are not playing sports?
When I’m not playing sports I like to watch sports games, go to sporting events and get autographs, cook with my mom, play video games, watch YouTube videos and play with my sister Eva.
What is your proudest sports moment?
My proudest sports moment is when I pitched three scoreless innings in my little league championship game this past year.
What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?
The best thing about being a sportstar is being recognized, not only in person but also through the YouTube channel my dad and I recently created called @GraphGuyz !!!
