The Jewish Link and The Humble Toast would like to recognize Isaac and William Schmutter as this week’s Sportstars of the Week. The Bergenfield duo are finishing up third grade at Yeshivat Noam and love all sports. Their favorite sport is hockey, Isaac plays goalie and William plays offense, which makes practicing together perfect. They are big Rangers, Jets and Dodgers fans and love watching games with their family.
Isaac and William, congratulations on being recognized as this week’s sportstar of the week. Who is your role model and why?
W: My brother, Jacob, because he’s good at hockey.
I: My brother, Jacob, because he never gives up and just works harder and harder every time.
What is your favorite sport?
W: Hockey because it’s the most fun to play.
I: Hockey, I really enjoy being on the net.
What is your earliest sports memory?
W: Playing tackle football in the snow with my brothers.
I: Scoring my first basket in MGBL.
What is your greatest sports accomplishment?
W: Winning the hockey championship.
I: My first ever hockey championship win.
Who is your favorite athlete and why?
W: Freddie Freeman, he saved the Dodgers in the World Series.
I: Egor Shesterkin, because he plays awesome in every game.
What is your pregame routine?
W: I take a drink of water.
I: I stretch before I put on my gear.
What do you like to do when you are not playing sports?
W: Xbox!
I: Play with friends.
What is your favorite sports moment?
W: Going to a ranger game with my dad and I got a puck.
I: My first Jets game.
What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?
W and I: We’ve waited our whole life to be the sportstar of the week!
