(Courtesy of The Idea School) The Idea School is excited to announce the appointment of Rabbi Tavi Koslowe as its Judaic studies principal. A collaborative and reflective educational leader, Rabbi Koslowe joins the school from The Ramaz School in New York, where he has been the head of lower school for the past four years. Rabbi Koslowe brings to The Idea School expertise in experiential Judaic Studies, cross-curricular integration, educational technology, professional development and student programming, as well as 15 years of authentically engaging students socially, emotionally and religiously.
Rabbi Koslowe expressed enthusiasm about this new chapter in his career and is eager to join the dedicated administration and faculty at The Idea School. “With the full expression of startup creativity and innovation, this is an incredibly exciting time for me to join The Idea School…I feel very fortunate to be part of this incredible team of educators as we bring passion-based learning and growth-oriented curiosity to the forefront of Jewish education.”
Prior to The Ramaz School, Rabbi Koslowe was the inaugural Judaic studies middle school assistant principal at Yeshivat Noam in Paramus for seven years, where he designed a spiraling Judaic studies curriculum of skills, content and values. He also supported the growth of the school, with a student body of 20 to over 225 students, and a faculty of four to over 30 members.
In addition, Rabbi Koslowe was director of student activities and a Judaic studies teacher at Yavneh Academy in Paramus and educational director at Camp Stone, in Sugar Grove, Pennsylvania.
Rabbi Koslowe earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Yeshiva University, where he also received his rabbinic ordination, master’s in secondary Jewish education and a specialist’s certificate in educational administration. He was awarded two educational fellowships (YU LEAD and Academy for Torah Initiatives and Directions), received a grant from The Avi Chai Foundation in educational technology and has presented often at educational conferences.
When not at work, Rabbi Koslowe can be found in Teaneck, enjoying time with his wife Elana and their five children: Bella (12), Rafi (10), Sofia (8), Danya (6) and Maayan (3).
