The Idea School held its second annual shabbaton in the beautiful Catskills region this past weekend. The shabbaton kicked off to a great start with pre-Shabbat activities that included learning the history and background to the mitzvah of baking challah and then actually baking challah. Shabbat began with beautiful Kabbalat Shabbat, led by the students, followed by a tish and oneg that included singing and more Shabbat fare. Davening throughout the weekend was led by the students, including two students who leined their bar-mitzvah parsha and haftarah for Parshat Noach. Students and faculty had a chance to bond with each other during the many activities on Shabbat which included nature walks, preparing divrei Torah, games and lively Shabbat singing. After Shabbat, students and faculty enjoyed a fun and exciting melave malka with more food, a talent show and finally a bonfire with music and S’mores. Overall, another memorable shabbaton experience at The Idea School!
