Last week, The Idea School had its first shabbaton at Camp Romimu in Monticello. The weekend was a meaningful Shabbat experience together as a school. Pre-Shabbat programming began with a candlestick design activity and dvar Torah led by math teacher, Freidi Hyman. Shabbat then began with an amazing Kabbalat Shabbat that was later followed by an oneg Shabbat. Shabbat day was full of fun activities, including Minute to Win It challenges, student-led dvar Torahs, slow shira, and a Motzei Shabbat talent show and bonfire. Even though the weather was not as cooperative throughout the weekend, the students were sad to leave this incredible school bonding experience and are looking forward to planning the next shabbaton for next year.
