The Idea School Hosts Virtual Exhibition of Learning

Neither three months of distance learning nor a pandemic were enough to deter The Idea School from hosting their third Exhibition of Learning of the year. Using digital platforms to create and display student work made this trimesters exhibition of learning stand out among the rest.

On Thursday June 8, The Idea School virtually welcomed a record crowd of well over 100 guests on Zoom that included parents, community members and prospective families, to its last Exhibition of Learning of the 2019/2020 academic year. With classes moving to virtual classes in March, The Idea School’s project-based learning model continued to enable a rich curriculum based on hands-on experiences and projects that faculty specifically designed for the new digital medium. The faculty delivered and the students confidently rose to the occasion. Both freshmen and sophomores presented their learning in tzedek u’mishpat discussions, chemistry and kinetics, dystopian films, the chemistry of addiction and student coded games and artwork to name just a few. Of particular note were the sophomore presentations of Megillat Rut, in which they created their own artistic representations of the story and mefarshim along with artistic statements that explained their drawings. The collection of essays and artwork was made into a book titled, “And Ruth Clung to Her—a companion to the Book of Ruth by The Idea School Class of 2022” which is now available on iBooks for all to download.

One of the benefits of a digital exhibition is that it now lives on the web and can be viewed anytime! The Idea School invites all to check out the Third Exhibition of Learning at http://theideaschoolexhibition.org/.
