The Idea School Introduces Design and Entrepreneurship

This year, The Idea School, introduced a new course, Design and Entrepreneurship, for 11th and 12th graders. In this course, taught by humanities instructor, Mr. Edward Maza, students have the opportunity to bring together historical and cultural analysis, design thinking and business skills. Each semester, students will explore a different creative industry to learn about its history, cultural significance and business models. This semester, students are learning about the history of fashion design and production. Over the course of the fall term, students will explore the historical and cultural significance of clothing, design their own garments, and launch, organize and market their own fashion houses. Through collaboration with Idea School faculty and industry professionals, Design & Entrepreneurship prepares students for university study and professional experience.
