Thursday night, the Rapids travelled to play the Ramaz Rams in New York City. Ramaz had the same record as Ma’ayanot coming into the game: eight wins, two losses, and a playoff game win.
The Rapids got off to a bit of a rocky start, scoring only 3 points in the first quarter, with Ramaz scoring 8. By halftime, however, the teams were tied at 15 points. For most of the third quarter, the lead continually passed between Ramaz and Ma’ayanot. It was not until the end of the third quarter that the Rapids gained a 7-point lead. By the middle of the fourth quarter, Ma’ayanot was up by 10 points. The final score was 44-34. As soon as the buzzer sounded, the entire Ma’ayanot team leapt from the bench and celebrated together because they had just made history.
With amazing guidance by coaches Keni Ashby and Atara Polinsky, the team hopes to shock its fans even more and finally bring a basketball championship banner home to Ma’ayanot.
