The Ma’ayanot x JOWMA fellows were thrilled to welcome Dr. Chava Blivaiss, MD, a trauma surgeon, to their fifth club meeting. Dr. Blivaiss introduced students to essential surgical techniques, including IV insertion and suturing. She began by demonstrating how to insert an IV, astonishing students by successfully placing one into her own vein using just one hand. She then guided them through various suturing techniques, allowing each student to practice using individual suture kits. To conclude, Dr. Blivaiss shared her experience of spending two months in Israel after October 7, treating wounded soldiers in hospitals. Her passion and energy were truly inspiring, and many students stayed afterward, eager to learn more from her firsthand experiences. The students deeply appreciated her expertise, generosity with her time and contagious enthusiasm, which made the session both educational and unforgettable.
