The RAIN on Water Event Space Sportstar of the Week: Noam Becker

The Jewish Link of New Jersey and The RAIN on Water Event Space would like to recognize 12-year-old Noam Becker as this week’s Sportstar of the Week. The seventh grade at the Rosenbaum Yeshiva of North Jersey has been ripping up the YMSSA hockey league this year and is a huge part of the teams success. The RYNJ Jaguars head to the playoffs without a single loss in regulation, Becker has collected several hockey camp trophies and been a perennial star in the TABC Jr Hockey League. TABC Jr Hockey’s Mo Fuchs told the JLNJ, “Noam Becker has been a shining star in TABC Jr Hockey for years already. His hustle, heart and scoring touch are generally on full display in a game.”

Noam, congratulations on another great season. Who is your role model and why?

My dad, because I always see that he pushes himself to be the best at what he does and he pushes me to be the best, both on and off the hockey court.

What is your favorite sport?

Hockey is my favorite sport. I love it because it takes a lot of practice and it is a true team sport. You can’t just play the game by yourself and the game can’t be won by just one player. Even the player who assists with the goal gets credit along with the player who actually scored the goal.

What is your greatest sports accomplishment?

Scoring a hat-trick for the RYNJ hockey team against Ramaz earlier this season.

What is your earliest sports memory?

My earliest memory was being the youngest player on TABC junior hockey and scoring two goals in a game.

Who is your favorite athlete and why?

Mika Zibanejad from the New York Rangers, #93, because he works hard and is a player that looks to help and set up his teammates. I chose his number for my hockey jersey.

What is your favorite sports memory?

My favorite memory was scoring four goals in a game in the last two minutes to tie up the game. We still lost in overtime but I will never forget how the game changed and fans cheering.

What is your pregame routine?

I listen to music to get in the zone and stretch. I also play my playlist for the team in warmups before the game.

What is your favorite thing to do when you are not playing sports?

I like to hang out with my friends, play Xbox, go ice skating and, of course, watch hockey games.

What is your weirdest sports memory?

I one time showed up to an away game without my hockey stick.

What is the best thing about being a Sportstar?

Being recognized for my hard work on the hockey court playing for TABC Jr Hockey, Camp Overtime and RYNJ.

The RAIN on Water Event Space Sportstar of the Week will receive a $15 gift certificate to any Teaneck Restaurant of their choice. Please contact RAIN at 201.817.8100 to receive a certificate.
