Linking Northern and Central NJ, Bronx, Manhattan, Westchester and CT

In the spirit of Chanukah, Shefa School students brightened their community through acts of chesed. On the school-wide Chesed Day, students visited and volunteered at various community services throughout the city. The Shefa School chorus visited the United Jewish Council Adult Lunch Club, where they sang Chanukah songs for the community members. Other groups of students volunteered with various community kitchens, preparing and delivering food throughout Manhattan. Another group volunteered at an animal rescue center, cleaning play areas, organizing the lobby, washing dishes and playing with the animals. An additional group of students visited a Jewish early childhood center, where they read stories about Chanukah and played games.

Following the volunteer work, Shefa School students celebrated Chesed Day with a silent disco! The theme of the silent disco was lighting up the world. Students danced and celebrated, listening to Chanukah music and pop hits.
