A tournament called Triple B or BBB Hockey Tourney (Bennett’s Benefit Bash) was held on Sunday, December 1, at Mackay Ice Rink in Englewood, benefiting Chai Lifeline. The event was the brainchild of Bennett Burgida who is an avid ice hockey player, New Jersey Devils fan and a cancer survivor. He decided an ice hockey tournament would be a perfect chesed opportunity in honor of his bar mitzvah to give back to Chai Lifeline.
There were approximately 60 players comprised of kids ages 11+ along with adults divided amongst four teams: Red, Green, Gold and Grey. Four very competitive games were held deciding the championship game between Red and Grey. Ultimately, Red defeated the Grey team 4-1 in the championship.
As Bennet stated, “Sunday night was a very memorable and fun night. We couldn’t have done this without each and every player, sponsor and donor. My chesed tournament benefiting Chai Lifeline was a way to give back to this fabulous organization and it exceeded my expectations. We raised more money, over $25,000 and had more fun playing competitive hockey than I expected. Thank you all again for making it a great success!”
