The Varsity Storm Defeat the Sting

TABC’s varsity hockey team traveled to Riverdale on Thursday night November 20th to play the undefeated SAR Sting in what would be a very closely played game.

In the middle of the first period SAR scored the first goal to put them up 1-0. After a scoreless second period the Storm came out a little more aggressive, looking to do whatever it takes to put the puck in the back of the net. Just a few minutes into the third, Yehoshua Lerer found Captain Alex Malech at the point. Malech patiently settled the puck and fired the equalizer top shelf.

The game remained tied, with both teams trading scoring chances, until 1:42 left. On a deep zone faceoff, TABC offenseman Josh Deschino was tied up on the face off, but his line mate, Calev Minsky, stepped in and sent the puck back to Captain Aryeh Berman open at the point who fired the puck short side to give the Storm the go ahead goal to make the score 2-1.

SAR put on significant pressure from there, including pulling their goalie for an extra attacker, but TABC goalie Rami Levine didn’t budge, shutting the door. Ari Fuchs buried an empty netter with less than a minute left to clinch the game for the Storm.

The TABC Storm have a nice Thanksgiving break and do not play their next game until December 4th vs. Kushner.
