Three Bi-Cultural Teachers Will Be Featured in Stamford High Holiday Learning Program

Rabbi Oran Zweiter, Rabbi Naftali Wolfe, and Elana Trompka Friedman will highlight an upcoming learning program via Zoom focusedonCurrent PerspectivesontheHigh Holidays. The program, which is being sponsored by the Center for Community Education (CCE) at the Bi-Cultural Hebrew Academy of Connecticut, will be broadcast on Wednesday night, September 16th at 8PM.

“We are delighted to feature three outstanding Jewish educators from our school as they deliver high-quality shiurim to Stamford community members, and the larger Jewish community,” said Rabbi Tzvi Bernstein, Dean at the school and co-chair of the CCE. “As part of the CCE’s mission, we want the larger community to benefit from the knowledge and pedagogic skill of our excellent faculty, and provide the faculty with a wonderful opportunity to deliver shiurim outside of the classroom and engage in Torah study with our community members. This particular program is a great opportunity to hear three of our talented teachers provide insight and inspiration on the liturgy, laws, customs and texts that all of us encounter over the High Holidays. We look forward to seeing as many people participate in this upcoming Zoom as possible.”

Rabbi Oran Zweiter, who teaches Jewish history at the high school, will discuss “COVID-19 and Its Impact on the High Holiday Liturgy.” Rabbi Naftali Wolfe, who also is also an instructor at the high school, will speak about “Repentance: Getting to the Heart of the Matter.” Elana Trombka Friedman, who teaches in the lower school, will discuss “Insights into Maftir Yonah.”

The Center for Community Education (CCE) is a brand new initiative of the Bi-Cultural Hebrew Academy of Connecticut that aims to inspire thoughtful conversation related to the spectrum of Jewish issues and ideals. Last month, the group sponsored a dialogue with Rabbi Yitz Greemberg and Rabbi Shlomo Riskin that attracted close to 300 registrants, and the prior month the group organized a program on race and the Jewish community.
