Three Hamas Operatives Indicted for Planning Multiple Terrorist Attacks

(Israel Hayom/Exclusive to JNS.org) Three Hamas operatives were indicted Monday on suspicion of planning multiple terrorist attacks in Israel, including shootings, bombings and abductions.

Mamdouh Younis, 24, an Israeli Arab from the northern town of Arara, and brothers Hassan Zidan, 23, and Muhammad Zidan, 25, from the village of Bani Naim next to Hebron, were arrested several months ago in a joint operation by the military, police and the Shin Bet security agency.

According to an indictment filed with the Haifa District Court, the three terrorists planned attacks on several locations in northern Israel, including a military base near Kafr Qara, the train station in Binyamina, a major synagogue in Zichron Yaakov and the central bus station in Afula. The suspects also allegedly recruited other terror operatives and tried manufacturing the weapons they had planned to use in their attacks.

“The investigation further revealed an expansive Hamas infrastructure that aimed to promote serious terrorist attacks in the Hebron area and in Israel. This activity was directed by Hamas elements in the Gaza Strip. The cell was planning multiple terrorist attacks in Israel, including shootings, bombings and abductions,” the Shin Bet said in a statement Monday.
