Last week, on Thanksgiving morning, Gabrielle Green, Carly Sheinfeld, Nikki Ratner and Yakira Keiser held a three-on-three basketball tournament at Yeshivat Noam as a chesed event for their bat mitzvah projects. The tournament raised money for two programs called “Do Wonders” and “Nettie Says.” Do Wonders is a program that donates wigs to women with cancer and Nettie Says is a charity that supports inclusivity and needs of individuals with special needs. The group of young ladies organized all of the details for the entire program (with some help from their beloved families). From making the fliers to organizing the teams, Yakira, Nikki, Carly and Gabrielle had support throughout the entire process.
The tournament was for 5th, 6th and 7th grade girls and drew girls from RYNJ, Yeshivat Noam, Yavneh and Moriah. In all, 24 girls came out to play, which translated into eight teams. Each team played four games in the opening round-robin round. Following the opening round, the girls played two games in an elimination round to get down to two teams. While in the end one team won, the most important winners were the organizations. The girls raised approximately $1,800 combined for both organizations. They really hope that they can continue to contribute to charities throughout their lives. Carly Sheinfeld even thinks they should do it again next year!
Thank you to everyone who came and who contributed time, money, and effort into making this happen. If you would like to contribute to this tremendous cause, checks can be mailed to Nettie Says at: 446 Ogden Ave Teaneck NJ 07666
