(Courtesy of Kaplen JCC) The Thurnauer School of Music at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades is excited to announce the addition of “Musikgarten” classes to its robust programming starting this fall, where infants, toddlers and young children can explore music, singing and instruments in a fun and welcoming environment. Musikgarten classes are filled with upbeat songs, musical movement, dramatic play and storytelling and are appropriate for each developmental stage in a child’s life. Complete with wonderful CDs of the songs sung in class, age-appropriate instruments and parent guidebooks, the full collection of home materials reinforces lessons and involves the whole family in the fun.
“I am so pleased to introduce this new and exciting music program to our community,” said Emma Brondolo, director of early childhood music at the Thurnauer School of Music. “Children will love learning the music and the whole family will enjoy fantastic recordings and materials that accompany the classes. Music is very different than any other activity because it uses many parts of the brain at once and learning music at a young age is so beneficial to the well-being of a developing child. It provides an emotional outlet, fosters creativity, critical thinking skills, motor skills, collaboration and a cultural connection. And most importantly—it’s fun! This program is an ideal introduction to music for young children, whether they are babies, toddlers or preschoolers.”
Unique to Thurnauer, all teachers are highly experienced musicians and early childhood educators who are experts in teaching Musikgarten classes. They bring their love and knowledge of music and share it with children and their parents, making sure that children’s musical, physical, emotional, social and cognitive well-being needs are met.
