This fall, Torah Academy of Bergen County (TABC) launched its new Tzurba D’Rabbanan Program, an opportunity for additional Talmud study open to all Freshmen. Under the guidance of Rabbi Ezra Wiener, Mashgiach Ruchani, participants will be learning Masechet Ketubot, in addition to Masechet Sanhedrin being studied by the entire yeshiva. Guest roshei yeshiva of Yeshiva University and Israeli Yeshivot will deliver bi-monthly shiurim. The first guest shiur was delivered by Rabbi Dovid Hirsch, RAM at Yeshiva University.

On Thursday, October 2nd, TABC conducted its monthly late night learning program. As a means of preparation for Yom Kippur, 100 students stayed for dinner and an opportunity to attend shiurim on a variety of Yom Kippur and Sukkot related topics delivered by TABC rabbeim. The evening was dedicated in memory of Mr. David Adler, Z”L, father of Rosh HaYeshiva, Rabbi Yosef Adler. Rabbi Adler introduced the program and shared aspects of his father’s life, particularly his opportunity to learn with him. The night concluded with a spirited kumsitz highlighted by singing and divrei chizzuk.

On Monday, October 6th TABC conducted its first Parent-Son Learning evening. After enjoying a hearty dinner, students and their parents went to the Beit Midrash to study the Marei Makomot (sources) for the shiur delivered by Rabbi Larry Rothwachs, Mara D’atra of Congregation Beth Aaron in Teaneck. Through this format, parents have an opportunity to directly fulfill their primary responsibility to their children–V’shinnantom L’vonecha–to teach Torah to your child.
