Touro Ranks in TechGuide’s Top 20 List of Best Computer Science Programs for 2025

(Courtesy of Touro) Touro University’s computer science program was ranked No. 17 in TechGuide’s Best Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science Programs for 2025, up seven points from its No. 24 ranking in 2024. The list highlights colleges and universities that excel in providing educational opportunities and training for today’s students interested in pursuing this high-demand career.

Computer science is one of the university’s most popular majors, with 150 students; the bachelor’s degree in the field is offered both in person and via Zoom. Last semester, Touro offered a course focused on Python programming and its application in AI, and beginning this fall, Touro is planning to incorporate AI throughout the computer science curriculum.

According to Dr. Shmuel Fink, deputy chair of the computer science department at Touro’s Lander College of Arts & Sciences, the plan is to teach students how to use tools such as GitHub Copilot, Anthropic Claude, and Cursor to assist with writing code. Touro will also cover technologies such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, Weaviate), orchestration libraries (LangChain, LlamaIndex), and graph-based link-chains. These tools help large language models (LLMs) access up-to-date information, store and retrieve that information efficiently using specialized “smart” databases, and connect related pieces of data. Together, they enable AI systems to generate accurate, natural-language responses that include company-specific or context-specific information.

The National Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that employment of computer scientists will grow 26% in the next decade, much faster than the average for all occupations. About 3,400 openings for computer and information research scientists are projected each year. According to TechGuide, earning a computer science degree can be a lucrative educational path for students looking to expand their job opportunities and pursue an analytical, computational and even creative career.

“Touro University’s bachelor’s in computer science offers students the foundation necessary to develop cutting-edge computing solutions and adapt to a world of ever-evolving new technologies. It is the perfect blend of theory and hands-on skills,” said Fink.

“Our graduates have secured top-tier positions and begun successful careers as software engineers, mobile app developers, full-stack developers, analysts, senior managers and more,” he added.

Recent Touro alumni have landed internships and jobs at Goldman Sachs, IBM, Northwell Health, Capital One Bank, Deloitte, Cross River Bank, and HealthFirst, among others.
