Tali Pfeiffer loves to bake. Whether it be cookies, cakes or pastries, she’s always cooking up some treat to share with her family and friends. And despite only being a high school junior, she has decided to launch her own company, Treats by Tali, opening the door for even more people to try out her various products.
Pfeiffer has been interested in baking ever since she was young. As a child, she used to bake treats for Shabbos with her mother, and over the years she has continued to find joy in the food she makes. With Treats by Tali she will be offering an assortment of her products with a portion of the proceeds being donated to charity.
“Baking has just been a great hobby,” Pfeiffer shared with The Jewish Link. “There are so many things you can make, and so many different flavor combinations to experiment with. I’m excited to show what I can do with my new company, while also doing some good by giving 15% of the money I make to tzedaka.”
In addition to her food being tasty, it is also quite Instagramable. With the launch of her company, Pfeiffer has also launched an Instagram page, @treatsby_tali, where she shares pictures of her treats. Those who purchase her products are encouraged to share pictures of them and tag her.
“With Instagram, it’s a great way to share what you’re making and interact with potential customers,” Pfeiffer continued. “I’ve gotten some really great feedback there, and am always eager to hear what people are thinking about my food.”
Treats by Tali actually has its roots in Pfeiffer’s bat mitzvah chesed project. Back then she was running baking classes for charity with two friends, and since she enjoyed the work so much she has decided to pursue it further while also balancing it with her busy school life.
“It’s a lot, between school and the business, but I’m having fun,” Pfeiffer said. “I usually do my baking after school, and it takes me a couple of hours before I take a break to do my homework. I bake for a lot of events, like shalom zachors, weddings, and Shabbos. The work is certainly keeping me busy!”
In addition to regular orders, Pfeiffer also takes requests and custom orders—many of her products can be made gluten-free and egg-free. Her specialties, though, are birthday cakes, and you can see many examples on her Instagram page.
“I can make all sorts of cakes,” Pfeiffer continued. “I can make a Disney Princess cake, a car cake, or even a superhero cake. I love the challenge of special orders and trying new styles and techniques. It keeps me on my toes, and gives me a lot of room to experiment and improve my skills.”
One of the things that Pfeiffer enjoys the most about baking is that it allows her to decorate and explore her creativity. She says she has always loved designing things and taking pictures of them. She feels that what separates her cakes from others is the fact that they don’t just look good, they taste good. Pfeiffer plays with different flavors to ensure the best possible product.
“At the end of the day, I created Treats by Tali because I love what I do,” the young baker said. “All the work is done by me, and a lot of care and love goes into it. There is no greater feeling than seeing a picture on Instagram of one of my cakes and reading the positive comments. It makes me feel so accomplished and eager to make the next one.”
Treats by Tali is actively accepting requests for her products. If you would like to place an order or learn more, you can email Pfeiffer at [email protected], or direct message her on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/treatsby_tali/.You can also call her at (201) 835-9584.
