Undefeated Kinneret Soccer Wins YMSSA Championship

The 2019 Kinneret Day School soccer season actually began in 2018. The team always starts practices right after Thanksgiving break, while most other schools are still in the middle of the fall hockey season. This season, 16 of the school’s finest soccer players arrived at 7 a.m. every week, beginning in November, to prepare for what would be a dream season.

Led by eighth grade captains Ron Benyamin and Noah Holmgren, the team began season play in March in the YMSSA, that included 14 day schools from New York and New Jersey. Finishing 8-0 in regular season play, the team entered the playoffs with the best record in the league, outscoring their opponents by 73 goals over eight games. After convincing quarterfinal and semifinal matches, the Lakers took on a tough Moriah team in the final and emerged victorious, finishing the season 11-0.

The KDS Lakers soccer program is about teaching young men important life lessons; how to work together, to represent their school with pride and dignity, to win and lose graciously, to be respectful and to work hard and persevere. The soccer team represents the values of Kinneret Day School and all it strives to teach it students.
