The 7B Noam Knights came into Monday night’s game undefeated, after strong early wins over Bi-Cultural Day School and Moriah. The team, and their parents perhaps even more, were all filled with nerves and anticipation as they prepared to face off against the same SAR Sting team they lost to in last year’s sixth grade championship.
The Knights got off to a great start with a few quick baskets and a strong 1-and-1 by Aiden Sausen. The Sting never stopped attacking and stayed in the game throughout, with the strong play and second-chance points of Henry Mann and Eli Neuwirth. The Knights’ tenacious defense in the beginning of the second quarter paid off and led to multiple fast-break points, including a resounding drive by Jonah Schachter, which closed out the first half. David Gellis led the Knights throughout the game with his rebounding and fast break points and finished with 23. The Knights kept the lead above 10 for most of the game and the Sting were not able to come back after their key players fouled out. The game ended with a very happy Noam team and their proud parents who learned that they could beat SAR.
Noam looks to continue their winning ways against RPRY and Yavneh in the next week.
