In conjunction with a yearlong study of “Understanding Differences,” on May 15 Ben Porat Yosef fourth graders had an amazing learning experience with Nava Silton, a professor at Marymount Manhattan College. Professor Silton teaches developmental psychology and has created a comic book series as well as a television series using characters with various disabilities. Throughout the week, students prepared for meeting the professor by reading her comic books. Professor Silton moderated a discussion session with the students, addressing characters, themes and lessons that they learned from the books. The students impressed with their deep insights.
