The campers of Camp Chaverim of the Union Y have had a week of fun in the sun and friendly competition. This past week, they had two trips to major water parks to cool down in the summer sun on water slides, lazy rivers, and giant wave pools.
The Girls divisions went to Sesame Place where in addition to water rides they watched a parade of favorite characters like Ernie and Bert and Zoe and adventurous campers enjoyed a ride on the Grover Roller Coaster. “We had the most incredible day at Sesame Place,” Dena Lichtman, Assistant Director of Camp Chaverim, said. “Not only did they have tons of fun but they also made a huge Kiddush Hashem demonstrating middos tovos to everyone at the park.”
The Boys divisions went to Clementon Park Splash World where in addition to the water rides they were able to enjoy a number of roller coasters, swings, and the carousel. Rabbi Yisroel Rich, Director of Camp Chaverim exclaimed, “Clementon Water Park was a blast. The slides and pools were fun for all ages. The jumbo ices and slushies were great treats to end a great day.”
This week not only featured amazing trips but a “Rio-style” Olympics as all of the campers celebrated a two-day Maccabiah. They demonstrated friendly competition, good sportsmanship, and menschlichkeit while competing in various events. Rabbi Natan Kapustin, Assistant Director of Camp Chaverim described the games. “The sportsmanship and ruach exhibited by our campers was really inspiring to experience.” The Orange team won but everyone had a great time competing.
