In response to R. Student’s Torah Musings (“Vaccine Selfies,” March 18, 2021), I wish to offer the following:
1. I sincerely hope he does not have to wait that much longer to get vaccinated.
2. That being said, I’d like to describe my experience when I received my second vaccination. Yes, I took a selfie, which I shared only with a senior center in my neighborhood, where I volunteer. This was for the purpose of giving encouragement to seniors who may have been reticent to get vaccinated. Before the nurse administered the vaccine, I explained the Shehecheyanu bracha to her and asked that she respond, “Amen” when I would recite it upon getting the injection. She agreed and that’s how it went.
