On Sunday, November 10, the 6th grade of Valley Chabad Hebrew School in Woodcliff Lake took a trip to Rockland Kosher Supermarket to learn about kosher food in a hands on way.
Their first stop was behind the scenes of the butcher Yossi’s Cuts. The students got to see where the mean is salted, cut up and prepared for sale.
Next stop was Shloimy’s Bakery where the students watched how challah, bagels and chocolate rugelach are baked.
The day ended with a scavenger hunt of kosher foods in the store. The class was led by their teacher, Rabbi Yosef Orenstein of Valley Chabad.
