It’s disappointing that The Jewish Link editors felt they have had to hide their Francophile natures (“Tipping Our Berets to France’s National Assembly,” December 5, 2019). My wife and I have been enjoying France for decades without concerns for “acceptability.” Sure, people would say “France is full of anti-Semites!” and we would reply “What country isn’t?” (including our own). People would question “Do you feel safe there?” and we would reply “As safe as we feel in Eretz Yisrael!” We have visited France to enjoy the wonderful culture and to support the Jewish community there—the third largest in the world—with our tourism dollars. We drink their fabulous wine, wait on the huge lines at L’As du Falafel, shop at the kosher markets, daven alongside them and enjoy their hospitality. The art, music, architecture and history of France are all bonuses. I encourage my friends to visit—and they have—and we intend to go back soon. After all, “Vive la France” isn’t a far cry from “Am Yisroel Chai.”
