WDS Holds Successful Summer Golf Outing

(Courtesy of WDS) The Westchester Day community put their best foot forward—quite literally—at the much-anticipated Golf and Tennis Summer Outing on August 14 at the Fenway Golf Club in Scarsdale.

The event itself served as a remarkable opportunity for the Westchester Day School and Westchester Summer Day community to come together and raise funds for the day school, with a shared purpose of remembering a beloved friend and community member in his fifth yahrzeit—Daniel Silber, z”l—a pillar in the Westchester Day School community.

As head of school, Rabbi Rockoff so eloquently put it: “The Westchester Day School Golf and Tennis Summer Outing not only commemorated the life of an exceptional individual in Dan Silber but also reaffirmed the power of our community, friendship, and the pursuit of educational excellence.”

From swinging clubs on the greens to rallying on the courts, and even a dash of Pilates in the mix, the event was a sports lover’s paradise where everyone found their game mixed with a sense of camaraderie that defines the Westchester Day spirit. Continuing into the night, guests were treated to cocktails, dinner and performances by the Screaming Broccoli—an off-the-charts ’80s and ’90s cover band.

Adam Bensley, chairman of the WDS School Board went on further to say, “This is a day for everyone to enjoy, reconnect after summer, and make new memories.”

Jared Dinkes, president of the WDS Board, highlighted the annual event’s significance in strengthening the school’s foundation. “Our goal is to raise funds to continue doing what we do best—providing exceptional education rooted in our shared values,” he said. The event’s dual purpose of enjoyment and fundraising underscored the commitment of the community to ensuring the school’s continued success.
