Westchester Day School hosted almost 1,000 people on its campus for this year’s Grandparents and Special Persons Day. Visitors traveled from near and far, by car, train and even airplane to join WDS students and experience the magic of WDS. Educators showcased their creativity by tying their curriculums into exciting and engaging activities for grandparents and special friends to participate in along with the students they were visiting. From singalongs to science experiments, multigenerational interviews to collaborative poetry, Israel education and crafts, the campus was pulsing with excitement and activity. Culminating with a beautiful luncheon and performances by the third and fifth graders, this special day left visitors feeling an overwhelming sense of WDS pride and nachas for the educational experience students receive each and every day. One visitor shared “The enthusiasm and excitement in learning flowed through our visit. Mutual respect between teacher and student was a constant. We enjoyed witnessing the pride our grandchildren feel about their academic accomplishments and appreciated the mutual insights gained through the reciprocal interviews. It was a great visit!”
