WDS Second Grade Celebrates Chag HaTorah

This past Friday, the Westchester Day School second graders gathered with family, teachers and peers to mark a momentous milestone—their Chag HaTorah ceremony, celebrating the receipt of their very first Chumashim.

This event was not just a celebration but a meaningful step in each student’s Torah learning journey. The second graders performed a play that brought to life the lessons they are beginning to explore in Parashat Lech Lecha, highlighting why the Chumash is so much more than a book—it is the foundation of our Jewish history, values and way of life.

With carefully placed songs featuring words from the pesukim, the second graders expressed the beauty and depth of Torah learning, reinforcing how its teachings guide us each day. Their enthusiasm, curiosity, and pride radiated throughout the room, making this a truly unforgettable moment.

Mazal tov to WDS second graders, their teachers and families on this incredible milestone! May this be the beginning of a lifelong journey of Torah learning and love.
