WDS Second Grade Learns About Appreciation

Rabbi Klinger, the WDS rabbi-in-residence, joined the second grade to learn about the story of Yaakov wrestling the angel. Students learned how Yaakov was alone that night after, according to the Midrash, he went back to retrieve small pots. Students had the opportunity to act out the scene with Rabbi Klinger as they learned the reasoning behind Yaakov’s actions.

The question posed to the students was: Why did he go back for a small pot? The answer: We should be appreciating the little things in life.

Rabbi Klinger brought rosemary from the WDS garden for the students to smell and be able to make a bracha on it. Students were able to show their appreciation for the beautiful smell and all the beauty around us, just like Yaakov showed appreciation for the small things in life.
