In honor of Rosh Hashanah and Sukkot, first graders studied still life paintings with apples by a famous French artist, Paul Cezanne. They took a close look at the artist’s choice of colors, shapes and arrangements and learned about the concept of still life. Inspired by Cezanne’s works, they created their own mixed media collage masterpieces and were thrilled to bring them home to share with their families. All of the amazing artists contributed some of their collage pieces and collaboratively (observing the rules of social distancing) worked on a large scale still life piece—a welcome gift for Tikvah, the wonderful new school nurse. They all signed their names on the back of the masterpiece, which will adorn the nurse’s office and will serve as a reminder of how much everyone appreciates everything she is doing.
