On Thursday, August 5, I attended the Clifton board of education meeting, intending to answer the anti-Israel remarks by two of their commissioners, Mr. Awwad and Mr. Abedrabbo.

I was very disappointed to see that there were only three individuals willing to speak in support of Israel: Rabbi Mark of the Clifton Jewish Center, Steve Goldberg and myself. Those against Israel were many and prepared to speak. Jewish Voice for Peace, Palestinian-Americans and Satmar rabbis were among the speakers. Where were other Jews? Jewish Federation? ADL?

We are our own worst enemies. If we don’t speak up in our own interests, why should we expect others to?
