Mayor Robert Parisi welcomed Rabbi Mendy Kasowitz and his family to the front lawn of town hall for a menorah lighting on November 29. It was the 18th consecutive year for the ceremony at town hall honoring the holiday of Chanukah.
Both Mayor Parisi and Rabbi Kasowitz spoke briefly about the annual event that has now become interwoven into the fabric of the West Orange community. The rabbi sang prayers in Hebrew before the mayor joined him and others in the traditional circular dance of the hora.
Also in attendance were Council President Cindy Matute-Brown, Councilwoman Michelle Casalino, School Board President Terry Trigg-Scales and Schools Superintendent Scott Cascone, along with several township employees and other members of the community.
