Westchester Day School hosted a meaningful and successful community gathering and toy drive in support of Am Yisrael! Over 200 people joined together to package more than 250 bags of toys and gifts for children in Israel who have been impacted by the current crisis. Students, families and faculty all joined together b’yachad to contribute to this amazing effort. In addition, the community created meaningful murals which will be displayed in the entrance to the school; decorated framed copies of the Prayer for Chayalim and wrote letters to soldiers in Israel. Older students also penned letters to President Biden thanking him for his support of Israel! The PTA committed to donating all profits from the sale of spiritwear that day to the One Family Fund, who was a partner in the toy drive. The event culminated in a musical outpouring of ahavat Yisrael, led by WDS music teacher, Sandy Shmueli.Everyone joined together in Tehillim, tefillah and uplifting song, expressing shared love for our homeland. It was a meaningful event in the midst of challenging times and reinforced that Westchester Day School remains a place of comfort and consistency for students and families alike.
