Westchester Day School Torah Bowl: Learning, Competing and Building Community

Middle school students at Westchester Day School are embracing the excitement of Torah Bowl, a dynamic program that combines Torah study with teamwork and competition. The Torah Bowl team meets twice weekly—Mondays during the elective period and Wednesdays during lunch—to study an entire book of the Torah with Chumash and Rashi. This year, the team is diving into sefer Bamidbar, preparing for academic competitions that test their knowledge of the weekly parshiot, covering three per meet.

Beyond the incredible Torah learning, Torah Bowl at Westchester Day School is an unforgettable experience. Each meet includes a special stop for lunch at a local restaurant near the host school, fostering team bonding, reflection and some delicious food.

Recently, the team attended a meet graciously hosted by Manhattan Day School. Afterward, they stopped near Yeshiva University for lunch and had the privilege of hearing a shiur from Rabbi Baruch Simon, a distinguished rosh yeshiva at Yeshiva University and brother-in-law of Rabbi Ney—middle school director at Westchester Day School.

The Torah Bowl team is thrilled to continue learning, growing and sharing this amazing journey together. Kol hakavod to the middle school students for their dedication and passion for Torah study!
