Westchester Torah Academy works hard to build a community that is awash in Ivrit and Israeli culture. From the commitment to teaching Ivrit b’Ivrit, to spectacular celebrations of Israeli culture. WTA is always looking for more ways to steep our children in love of Eretz Yisrael. In the 2024-2025 school year, we’re so fortunate to be able to boast three families of shlichim! Combined, these six amazing individuals have decades of experience in both education and childcare, and we are truly blessed to have such a robust team of shlichim with us.
Yiftach and Danit Moran
We wish a warm welcome to our first new family of shlichim, Yiftach and Danit Moran. Along with their four children, who will be students at WTA, they are excited to be joining this warm community of like-minded educators and families.
Moreh Yiftach Moran is a dedicated teacher, with experience teaching youth groups, teenages and soldiers in many different settings. He is a talented photographer with a gift for capturing special moments, and enjoys teaching photography courses to teens and adults. He’s excited to be teaching in Nitzanim (pre-k) this year, and can’t wait to share his love of Yahadut and Eretz Yisrael with his new students.
Morah Danit Moran is an extraordinary middle school and high school teacher, specializing in teaching students to explore the geography, history, and culture of Eretz Yisrael in a meaningful and experiential way. She can’t wait to share her vast knowledge of Israel, as she teaches Ivrit this year.
Haggai and Reut Reiss
WTA is also fortunate to be able to wish a hearty welcome to the Reiss family, our second set of new shlichim. Moreh Haggai Reiss is a long-time limudei kodesh teacher, specializing in special education. This year, he’ll be teaching Chumash in the middle school, as well as music for the whole school. With a special place in his heart for music, he’s looking forward to sharing these two passions with our students.
Morah Reut Reiss has a truly eclectic background. Her heart is filled with photography, music and baking, and she can’t wait to use these different lenses to teach second and fourth grades this year. With experience teaching photography and social media in Israel, she is sure to bring a new perspective to our students, and to help each of them find the path to knowledge of Torah and Ivrit that suits them best.
Liat and Or Taiter
Finally, WTA is overjoyed to welcome back Liat and Or Taiter, beloved shlichim who joined WTA in the 2023-2024 school year. While it was a challenging year to be away from home, the Taiters and their three children took comfort in the warm community that they found here, and are thrilled to be back. Morah Liat and Moreh Or teach in WTA’s early childhood program, and love to share their knowledge and warmth with our youngest learners. Moreh Or, also known as Coach Or, will be teaching physical education as well, this year, after coaching the WTA Warriors’ girls soccer team through a stunning season last year.
Westchester Torah Academy is so lucky to have such a talented and varied group of Israeli educators on our faculty this year. We thank them from the bottom of our hearts for their commitment to the next generation, and look forward to a year of success and (be”H) peace.
