Last week, some of WTA’s students received a visit from the Friend at Hand Foundation, an organization dedicated to raising PTSD support dogs for those impacted by Hamas violence. During the visit, the students learned that dogs can be powerful healers. They heard that taking care of someone else, going outside, keeping a schedule and physical touch all promote good feelings. While an adorable puppy makes each of these actions easier, a dog is actually not required. In other words, while the kids were busy thinking about puppies, teachers snuck in some mental health education.
