What a Game! Maayanot Softball Report

Ma’ayanot’s second game of the season ended with a victory against Frisch.

Coaches Yoni Lieber and Kayla Applebaum summed the game up as follows: “We were down 3-2 in the bottom of the 6th, when three straight singles by Noa Applebaum, Ally Margulies, and Racheli Zirman loaded the bases. With Tamar Nissel pinch running for Ally, Micayla Rosenbaum hit a shot up the middle that turned into a grand slam!”

With an amazing defense behind Ally, who did not give up a run after the first inning, the Rapids beat Frisch 6-3.

A special shout out to Nicole Rothenberg for batting 1.000.

Maayanot Softball, Still Perfect

After the long Pesach vacation, Ma’ayanot came out swinging against Kushner on April 24th in Teaneck. In front of the home crowd, on a cold night, the team scored 14 runs in three innings and shut out the visiting team 14-0.

Ma’ayanot improved its record to 4-0, after beating Hillel 14-0 on Sunday afternoon. Once again Co-Captain Ally Marguiles came through with an extraordinary pitching performance. Ally pitched five innings, struck out six, and did not give up a hit. Noa Appelbaum closed out the game with two innings, and the two pitchers once again combined for another shut-out.  Adina Falk made a tremendous catch in right field, and then threw out the runner on first base to complete a double play which ended a bases loaded threat.

After the game, the team enjoyed the nice weather and some relaxation time with dinner.
