Wildcats Drive Away Storm In Statement Victory

TABC and DRS in the Greenhouse.

The Greenhouse was rocking for this #1 @ #2 battle.

In a highly anticipated hockey battle Wednesday night between #1 TABC and #2 DRS in Woodmere, DRS took care of business handily.

The Wildcats came out flying with a goal just 24 seconds into the game thanks to Jack Greenbaum off of a great feed from Moshe Aryeh behind the net. DRS would strike again a few minutes later, as it would be Aryeh cleaning up a mess in front of the net to give DRS a 2-0 advantage after one.

Early in the second period, Max Pockriss gave DRS a 3-0 lead off of a great backhand pass from Ben Ritter in the corner by the DRS bench. The Storm tried to find a way back into the game by getting more shots off and hoping to net one and build momentum. However, Wildcats were everywhere and shooting lanes were disappearing left and right for TABC as DRS blocked shot after shot after shot. Late in the second period Micha Kahn unleashed a rocket from around the half court line and picked the top right corner over the glove of TABC goalie Amichai Dresdner. The goal sent the DRS Greenhouse into a frenzy; the building was shaking.

In the third period, the Wildcats locked up defensively. DRS took away space for TABC and made them try to use their speed, which is not the Storm’s strong suit. DRS would put the nail in the coffin late in the third on a wraparound goal from alternate captain Ritter. The score would stay at 5-0 the rest of the way, and TABC went on to endure a long ride back to Teaneck.

DRS improves their season record to 11–1 with only HAFTR and Rambam remaining on their schedule. TABC drops to a still impressive 9-2. They will face Ohr Yisroel, Kushner and YDE in their final three games of the season. Both teams sit on top of their respective conferences, and we may end up seeing a rematch when it matters most.
