Woman Harasses Jewish Residents

A female described as older, Asian, missing teeth and wearing a red coat and carrying a yellow bag, was reported to authorities in early December and again last week as having approached Jewish Teaneck residents and attempted to give them literature. Several weeks ago, she reportedly approached a child, told him that she knew both his parents, and tried to give him literature, and he ran away. She approached adults outside their home last Friday and shouted anti-Semitic statements at them, referring to them as ‘Hebrews,’ before being picked up by police near Red Road in the vicinity of Congregation Beth Aaron.

“The incident on December 18, 2015, in Teaneck involved the same woman who earlier this month provided information to a child pertaining to Buddhism,” said Teaneck Police Chief Robert Carney. “The literature included a Buddhist symbol which resembled, and was mistaken for, a swastika.”

“The two incidents are being fully investigated and the woman has been referred to the appropriate social service. At this time no charges have been filed and we do not believe the woman poses any threat,” said Carney.
