’Women’s Health Unfiltered’ Inspires and Empowers On the Upper West Side

(Courtesy of JOWMA) On May 27, over 100 women gathered on Manhattan’s Upper West Side for a powerful evening of education, inspiration and empowerment at “Women’s Health Unfiltered,” a unique event co-hosted by the Jewish Orthodox Women’s Medical Association (JOWMA) and Bikur Cholim of Manhattan.

Held in the warm and welcoming home of Daniel and Dena Gryfe, the event created an intimate yet electric atmosphere that left a lasting impression. Dr. Mimi Knoll, JOWMA CEO shared: “This event was a testament to both organizations’ commitment to the health of Jewish families, and the unique strength of Jewish women’s leadership in the community. We are inspired by the amazing health experts and volunteers who made this event possible.”

This was no ordinary wellness event. The evening featured an all-star panel of leading female physicians and wellness professionals who pulled back the curtain on cancer prevention, nutrition, longevity, and beauty. Together, they addressed common misconceptions, debunked viral health trends, and shared evidence-based insights for women who are ready to take control of their health—not just manage it.

Panelists included:

  • Miriam “Mimi” Knoll, MD—Radiation oncologist and JOWMA CEO
  • Roya Nazarian, MD—Dermatologist
  • Melissa Frey, MD—Gynecologic oncologist
  • Joanna Loewenstein, MD—Internist
  • Julie Wilcox, MS—JOWMA wellness director and nutrition expert

Attendees left energized, informed, and equipped with actionable tools to enhance their wellness journeys. Special thanks to the event hosting committee and Bikur Cholim chairwomen for their vision and dedication in making the evening a meaningful success.
