Women’s Initiative for Jewish Studies (WIJS) at Young Israel of New Rochelle (YINR) is proud to present Dr. Lynn Kaye on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at 8:15 p.m. on Zoom. She will be the sixth speaker of the 2024-2025 season in the monthly scholarly programming offered by WIJS at YINR.
Kaye’s lecture is entitled “Dream Healing in the Talmud.”
Bad dreams shake people. The Babylonian Talmud describes several procedures that dreamers can take, without an expert dream interpreter, to heal. As part of this presentation, we will learn from the tractate Berachot in the Talmud Bavli.
Kaye is associate professor of rabbinic literature and thought at Brandeis University. She is the author of “Time in the Babylonian Talmud” (Cambridge University Press, 2018) and co-editor of “Time: A Multidisciplinary Introduction” (Walter de Gruyter, 2023). She is also the writer of numerous articles on Jewish law and thought, and biblical and rabbinic studies. She is the recipient of a fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities for her current book project.
