World Mizrachi Helps Raise Over $5.7 Million for 21 Gap Year Institutions

(Courtesy of World Mizrachi) In its late-May Ki MiTzion Teitzei Torah special fundraising campaign powered by CauseMatch, World Mizrachi, the umbrella group for religious Zionism, helped raise nearly $6 million for 21 gap-year institutions in under 48-hours. The contributions came from nearly 15,000 parents, alumni and supporters in 10 countries around the world, including 35 U.S. states and 50 communities in Israel.

Last summer, in the lead-up to a year which promised increased operating costs and student scholarship applications, Mizrachi held a similar campaign. That event also netted over $5 million for participating institutions.

World Mizrachi has since launched a year-round gap-year focused department to help these students and Torah institutions in Israel.

“Behind every dollar donated to these institutions is an alumnus and a family grateful to their yeshiva or seminary for the impact it has had on shaping their religious and communal experience well after their return home,” said Rav Doron Perez, executive chairman of World Mizrachi. “We’re humbled that over 15,000 people came together in such a short period to show support to their 21 homes-away-from-home in Israel, and we’re inspired by the impact these schools have had on their alumni communities.”

As part of the Ki MiTzion Teitzei Torah campaign, World Mizrachi invited all of the institutions to join together and build out unique organizational-specific pages on dedicated CauseMatch sites. Each institution was able to name their specific campaigns, set their own fundraising goals and tap into their student and alumni networks. Despite the overall campaign already being completed, the sites remain live at www.cmatch.me/kimitzion.

The institutions that joined this year’s event included Amudim; Ateres Bnos Yerushalayim; Baer Miriam–Maayanot; Bnot Torah Institute–Sharfman’s; Derech Etz Chaim; Gates of Zion; Machon Maayan; Meorot Yerushalayim; Michlelet Mevaseret Yerushalayim (MMY); Midreshet Emunah v’Omanut; Midreshet HaRova; Rinas Bais Yaakov; Tomer Devorah; Yeshivas Ohr Yerushalayim; Yeshivat Ashreinu; Yeshivat HaKotel; Yeshivat Lev HaTorah; Yeshivat Migdal HaTorah; Yeshivat Sha’arei Mevaseret Zion; Yeshivat Torat Shraga; and Yeshivat Yishrei Lev.
