In what has become an annual tradition at WTA, Chanukah celebrations last week took a colorful turn with the middle-school-led color war. Many students suspected a Monday-start, and waited with baited breath until the break on Tuesday afternoon. After a brief celebration, students got straight to work preparing their team projects and competing in arts, sports, and knowledge.
This year’s theme was Israel: Am Yisrael, Eretz Yisrael and Torat Yisrael—incorporating all aspects of our Jewish people and values into everything that we do. For the first time in WTA history, the lower school joined Color War—a new experience for some, but a fun one for all. Everyone from first through eighth grade had a chance to prove themselves with team songs, creative Stomp performances, sports competitions and more. Some of the favorite events included the Apache Relay, Project Runway and Extreme Dreidel!
Thursday afternoon came and went with final presentations from each team. Everyone was proud to show off their beautiful banners, creative performances and even freshly created music videos. While color war is, of course, a competition, the exciting week ended with a beautiful ceremony; everyone joined together to sing מי שברך for all חיילי צה׳׳ל, ending the day with a strong feeling of hope and the unity of Am Yisrael.
