Yom HaShoah is such an important day, and each year as the Shoah recedes further into history it becomes more critical for us to remember the tragedy. Last week, WTA held a series of meaningful ceremonies and activities to commemorate the day, including age-appropriate assemblies for the lower school and the middle school. WTA also had the great honor of hosting Dr. Leon Chameides, father of WTA teacher Moreh Danny, as he spoke to the middle school via Zoom about his experience during the Holocaust as a hidden child. Additionally, as has become tradition at WTA, the fifth graders culminated weeks of research about their own family histories with the Immigration Fair. Students told their ancestors’ stories through the lens of an artifact that has been passed down, celebrating how their families made their way to safety in America.
